Hall of Valor

In May 2020, a new flagpole base was dedicated by the Trafford American Legion Post #331 in memory of Sergeant Larry Louis Hohman, a 1966 graduate of Penn Joint High School. The construction was spearheaded by Penn Trafford student Dominic Costa as an Eagle Scout project for BSA Troop 184.

Sergeant Hohman was posthumously awarded the Silver Star for his actions on October 16, 1969, and was later killed in action on December 6, 1969.

On March 28, 2021, Sgt. Hohman will be inducted into the Hall of Valor at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall in Pittsburgh, a tribute reserved for Pennsylvania veterans who have received one of the military’s highest awards for valor (bravery and heroism during times of military conflict).

Due to the pandemic and current attendance restrictions, Soldiers & Sailors can only invite a limited number of guests into the building to attend this ceremony. However, the event will be live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube so anyone can watch the induction ceremony.
