Dean R. Clifford 328th Infantry Regiment
On this date, October 18, the story of Alvin York of the 328th Infantry Regiment is well known. This video highlights the story of a young man from Trafford Pennsylvania, Dean R. Clifford, who served in that same infantry regiment. While Clifford was not part of the capture that made York and his fellow comrades famous, he nevertheless participated in the bloodiest battle in American history known as a Meuse-Argonne offensive and was severely wounded a short distance from where York and his comrades captured the Germans. This former Commander of the Trafford American Legion Post 331 was known to have been a leader both as a soldier and as a civilian.
