Christmas Poem 1918

OB Dean
The Dean family once lived on Fairmont Avenue in Trafford. O.B. Dean was a successful salesman in the wholesale grocery industry and was an active participant in community events. As a veteran of the Great War, he served as the first Commander of the Trafford American Legion Post 331.
In December 1918, at the age of 21, Private Dean wrote this Christmas poem while serving in France for the 7th Trench Mortar Battalion. The Armistice was signed the previous month and Dean, along with his fellow troops, was anxious to return back home.
