Strange Technology with Joe Valencic
As students head off the school in the coming weeks, we would like to share a video interview of a former resident of Level Green, a true lifelong learner, who once told a reporter in an interview with the LA Times that, “Science isn’t a nerdy, boring thing.”
Joseph J Valencic, a former resident of Home Drive in Level Green, is a pioneer in the field of underwater videography and has traveled the world. He was inducted as a member of the exclusive The Adventurers' Club of Los Angeles, the group that produced this video.
Valencic was a graduate of Penn Joint High School (1960), serving as the Class Treasurer, and a graduate of St Vincent College. In 1995, the Los Angeles Times reported Valencic as holding the world record for the southernmost dive and earning a congressional medal for his research. His father Joseph was a retired employee of Westinghouse Electric in Trafford who passed away in 2003, and his mother Helen passed in 2008.
