Steinmetz passing 100 years

In October 1923, the Westinghouse High Voltage Laboratory produced a 42-foot man-made electrical arc, the largest ever produced at that time. That same month, the man credited with the mathematical and electrical engineering theories behind this feat passed away, Charles Proteus Steinmetz (April 9, 1865, - October 26, 1923).

We commemorate these two events from 100 years ago by replaying a shortened interview by Larry Hart with Kolin Hager, the first U.S. newscaster at WGY Radio Station (owned by General Electric). Hager tells the story of Steinmetz having been asked by Henry Ford to help him solve the problem of his Westinghouse-built generator.
