Saving the Bank Deposit Door

In March 1932, during one of the worst financial disasters in U.S. history, the Comptroller of the Currency of the United States found the First National Bank of Trafford was insolvent and unable to pay its legal debts. Foreign bonds, worth a fraction of their face value, were listed among the assets to be liquidated. The bank suspended business for four months and later reopened under the name “First National Bank of Wilmerding, Trafford Branch.” The bank building was razed in December 2019, and these gentlemen took the opportunity to pose with one of the relics saved during demolition.
