Texaco Station at Cavittsville

As you are approaching Trafford, traveling on Route 993 from Ardara, Cavittsville Road is located on your right. This undated photo shows a Texaco gas station at the corner of Rt 993 and Cavittsville Rd. There was also a 2-story home that once sat adjacent to the gas station. Both parcels are now vacant lots. The one home in the upper right corner of the photo is still there - located at 4270 Western Ave. Although these parcels are located in North Huntingdon, it would be interesting to know if anyone has information about the former Texaco station owner?

Chris Kozubal wrote, "I was talking to my cousin who grew up in Cavittsville, and here is the information she passed along. The Texaco station was owned/operated by Walter Siminowski. 1941 was her earliest recollection of the store being there. It was then sold to the Pringle family from Ardara then to someone from McKeesport who in turn rented the building to "Salty" Meynor. In 1963 the roof caved in, demolition soon followed. Also, the large house to the left of Texaco was habitat by the Habinski family. The large white house, the Harover family."
