Andrew
A Capets - World War I Veteran
Drafted and
inducted into the Army at age 22 on April 5, 1918. Andrew served as a Private and assigned
to the 80th Division, 313th Machine Gun Battalion,
Company C. His unit left the United States
on May 26, 1918 and he arrived overseas June 9, 1918. He was in the Artois Sector July 23 – August 18,
1918. September 12 – 16 he
served in the St Mihiel Offensive Corps Reserve and
took part in the Meuse Argonne Offensive on Sept 26, October 12, and November 1
through the 7th, 1918.
He boarded the USS Mercury on May 21, 1919 and sailed back to the United States
arriving June 7, 1919. He was
honorably discharged June 1919.

annual reunions in Erie, PA.
